I made a Blog Post

This was not supposed to be a blog post. It was supposed to be a prototype, to see if we could deliver a vlog/blog through this site. However, my love for making things got the best of me, and now I've created the first 'Make Me' vlog post.

That being said, when we do officially launch the Make Me Vlog in the next few months it will feel a little different and will coincide with the launch of our Make Me YouTube Channel. At that point, this vlog will be used as a landing page for that video content. The video you see below is just a wonderful placeholder.
The music video above is one I made with my son while we were on vacation in Japan. I love it. It's a good representation of creativity and the power of making things. It's also a good example of some of the content that will appear on the vlog. Future content will fall under the following three categories:

INTERVIEWS

We know so many amazing makers, making things. We don’t always get to work together, so instead we will sit down and have a chat, then turn that into a five-minute doc about the power of making things. I did something like this for all of the designers at J5 Design. Here is a trailer for their Creative Lead.

RETROSPECTIVES

We’ve made a lot of content in the past 20 years. For the content that's already out there, we will break down exactly how it got made, why we think it worked or maybe why it ‘failed.’ We hope that this inspires and acts as a guide to future makers. We haven't done this yet, but 'Make Me' co-founder Michael Janke and our collaborator Ryan Bouman took part in a similar video with Redshark news a few years ago.

PREMIERES

Though a lot of our content is out there, we still have hard drives of never-before-seen work. Some of it is incredible, some of it “sucks". In an attempt to encourage others to work out loud, we will share the good, the bad and the ugly. For example, the short film trailer below was made many years ago and never made it onto the internet. Perhaps that will change.
These three types of videos will be used to fill out this vlog and hopefully connect us to more amazing makers. We're in a growth industry that thrives when people are investing in each other, and we want to be part of that positive solution.
I’m going to call our shot now and say the first official Make Me Vlog will be up before June.
