Michael’s Shots PT.2

Cinematographer Michael Janke talks about some of his favourite shots from past projects.

I’m just going to jump right in. My craft is cinematography, and I want to share how that passion has revealed itself in some of Make Me’s past projects.

Cinematography starts with light—always. Then comes the equipment to capture it. Every second of the day, I’m watching, studying, and obsessing over the light around me. Controlling light is like holding the wind so every shot presents a challenge, and more often than not, we’re trying to create great light. But sometimes, the solution is simply to find it.

In this video, I break down three moments where I faced that challenge—how I found the light and a solution. These solutions might not be the “right” way, but they’re my way. And if there’s one thing filmmaking and storytelling have taught me, it’s that there’s no formula.
